"Logan" will be directed by James Mangold and the storyline will be based on the popular comic book "Old Man" Logan. However, the possible plot details for the "Wolverine 3" movie revealed that Logan/Wolverine (Jackman) will be much older and crippled living his last days off in the year 2024.

It is revealed that his health is deteriorating and is longer healing properly. Logan will be mentoring a young mutant girl, who has the same powers as his, but with two pairs of claws, thus hinting Laura Kinney/X-23's appearance. Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) will also return to the third "Wolverine" spin-off, but like Logan he is also deteriorating and they are accompanied by the by the albino mutant Caliban (Stephen Merchant). It’s also been revealed that those born with mutant abilities in 2024 are on the decline, and that an organization called Transigen is taking young mutants and turning them into killing machines, TheWrap reported.

Previous reports hinted that Mister Sinister (Richard E. Grant) will be the main antagonist in "Logan" and possibly be X-23's creator as his company Essex Corp acquired samples of Wolverine's DNA during the end credits of "X-Men: Apocalypse" leading to the plot of the film.

In other news, several rumors are making rounds regarding Wolverine's possible appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Captain America: Civil War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo had expressed their desire to have Wolverine in the MCU as part of "Avengers: Infinity War", ComicBookMovie reported. Fox currently owns the rights to the character's name in the "X-Men" franchise, but with Jackman's retirement of the character imminent after "Logan", it seems that there is a possibility to bring him into the MCU.

Jackman stated before that he wanted Wolverine to be part of the MCU, particularly with the Avengers, even teasing a fight between Logan and Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

However, the possibility of having Wolverine or even the X-Men in the MCU is next to impossible as the Russo's stated in a separate interview that there have been no talks on having the X-Men in the MCU and did not noticed any behind-the-scenes conversations or even heard of any plans about it.

"Logan" will be in cinemas on March 3, 2017.
