HTC finally took the wraps off the oft-released One M9, its most recent Android cell phone, during this year's Mobile World Congress, according to Asia PC Mag. However, HTC is not done with that, as the Taiwanese organization also launched a virtual reality headset called the Vive.
The Vive looks basically similar to the Oculus Rift VR headset. It will be packed down with sensors, empowering uniqueness such as hand following for a much more immersive virtual reality experience.
The newly developed headset will be launched this year the annual GDC event, VG 2/47 reported.
The developing model of the headset takes pride from its two 1200×1800 90 FPS displays, which HTC says will eliminate jitter and comes with a jack to plug in your own headphones.
It's a movement tracer capabilities comes from the combination of gyrosensor, accelerometer and laser position sensor with an accuracy of 1/10th of a degree. It can also be equipped as an optio with a "a pair of Steam VR base stations" to track physical location in spaces of up to 15 feet by 15 feet.
HTC also made a pair of ergonomic controllers with motion tracking together with the headset, in which were designed to not just with games but with other functionalities and applications as well.
They also named Google and Lionsgate as their partners in developing the product.
HTC said the top of the line and the future of the headset industry is the result of a "strategic partnership" between Valve and the organization. However, as of this writing, Valve hasn't released any official comment to support HTC with regards to this new product line.
In addition, it has been speculated that Valve has partnered with other manufacturers to produce a range of SteamVR devices, like what they did with their Steam Machine scheme.
