Several sources have confirmed that Bungie is planning to make "Destiny 2" an completely different game. In addition, the upcoming installment will be released sometime in 2017. Although there had not been any specific date for its launching, reports are claiming it will be at the end of the said year.

When "Destiny" was released in 2014, some players were disappointed that it was only exclusive for PS4 and Xbox One consoles. However, just recently, sources claimed that "Destiny 2" will be coming to PC as well.

A source posted on NeoGAF that a friend from Activision told him that the publisher plans to release a PC version of the new installment. The source mentioned that Vicarious Visions, an Activision-owned studio, is also part of the development team of "Destiny 2."

The same report said that Bungie is willing to change the whole plot of the next "Destiny" game rather than making it an extension of the original. The company will be willing to move on with new characters and leave the old ones behind, the report added.

The move is somehow being patterned to the Blizzard's "Diablo" franchise, where "Diablo 2" followed the first game but did not carry over majority of the original's elements. Although the extent of change is not yet known as of this moment, developers are reportedly "starting from scratch."

However, it can be recalled that during a previous interview with IGN, Bungie's David "DeeJ" Dague claimed players will be able to bring along the guardian they created from the original to the game's sequel. They want to tell players they are recognizing the attachment.

"The idea is that the Guardian you have created is something you can bring along with you on that adventure," DeeJ said. "If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time."

Whether the developers already shifted plans since their interview, fans will get to know once the sequel releases next year. "Destiny" is a first-person shooter game developed by Bungie and published by Activision.
