Stade Rennais, or Rennes, has been inconsistent in the first eight rounds of competitions so far as the team alternated winning and losing in their last five matches. The team is in the seventh spot of the league table at the moment.

Their most recent game resulted in a tough 1-0 win for Rennes over middling squad Guingamp on Sep. 30 also at their home field of Roazhon Park, as per SkySports. The score was tied for most of the match as both sides struggled on offense right from the kickoff.

Guingamp was disadvantaged in the 64th minute when midfielder Mustapha Diallo was sent off after getting booked with his second yellow card. Diallo fouled French winger Paul-Georges Ntep inside the penalty box.

The hosts had the chance to score the first goal but Polish winger Kamil Grosicki's spot kick was saved by Guingamp goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson.

Substitute striker Adama Diakhaby finally broke the deadlock in injury time for head coach Christian Gourcuff's side to snatch the win and three points away from the visitors.

Meanwhile, Bordeaux is currently at the sixth place in the overall standings, tied on points with Rennes but has a superior goal difference.

Les Girondins is coming off a 0-2 defeat in the hands of defending champions Paris Saint-Germain on the road at the Parc des Princes on Oct. 1, BBC Sport reported.

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani netted the two goals for PSG in the third and 30th minute while the visitors were not able to respond even with a single goal in the whole match.

It was the second consecutive winless performance for head coach Jocelyn Gourvennec's squad and the third in their last four outings.
