"Mean Girls" stars Lindsay Lohan and Jonathan Bennett recently had a reunion of sorts and fans the world over are squealing. Their virtual rendezvous also came in great timing, but just a couple of days late of Oct. 3, the historical day when Bennett's Aaron Samuels asked Lohan's Cady Heron "what day it was."

Lohan shared a snapshot of his FaceTime chat with on screen lover on her Instagam page. It is evident that despite over a decade since the release of "Mean Girls," the two stars are still keeping in touch.

The 2004 movie brought Lohan and Bennett, together with Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert in a story that addressed social hierarchies and cliques that prevail in high school, and their impact on students and teachers alike.

In an interview with EW, Bennett gave his two cents on why the movie, to this day, is one of the most recognizable and re-watchable movies in recent years. "It's such a quotable movie," the 35-year old actor said. "So I'll be walking down the street and getting a coffee and someone will scream, 'Your hair looks sexy pushed back!' or they'll be like, 'You can't sit with us!' There's so many of these tag lines that are so iconic and they scream them at me and it's hysterical."

Among the movie's quotable quotes is the one in Cady and Aaron's "October third" flirting scene. The date has since been dubbed "Mean Girls" Day.

Lohan and Bennett's reunion leads to another question: does this open any possibility for a reunion movie? Not really. For now, the cast members are busy with their individual projects.

However, Tina Fey, who wrote the screenplay for "Mean Girls," is working on a musical adaptation of the movie. Fey announced that she will not portray her onscreen role in the musical and nor will she approach the original stars to reprise their roles.

The "Mean Girls" musical will debut in Washington D.C. this fall, although the official date has not been confirmed. Fey collaborated with composer husband Jeff Richmond as well as lyricist Nell Benjamin for the musical.
