Shawn Michaels is considered by many as the best wrestler ever and he has been retired since 2010 when he lost a Career vs. Streak Match to The Undertaker. However, the latest rumors imply that Michaels might be coming back for one more match against A.J. Styles at the 2017 Royal Rumble.

The Heartbreak Kid currently serves as a WWE Ambassador and he has made sporadic appearances on WWE television. He last appeared at WrestleMania 32 when he helped Mick Foley and Stone Cold Steve Austin beat up The League of Nations.

According to Four3Four.com, the WWE is trying to convince Michaels to come out of retirement for one more match at the 2017 Royal Rumble. His rumored opponent is reigning WWE World Champion A.J. Styles, who has had a great first year in the WWE.

Next year's Rumble will be held at the 65,000-seater Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. It is the hometown of Michaels and they are looking to bring in Texan superstars like Austin and The Undertaker for the event as much as possible.

"We can now also reveal that the planned opponent for Shawn if he were to lace the boots up would be against The Phenomenal One A.J. Styles. The match up would itself be a "Once In A Life Time" dream match seeing these two go at it and possibly for the WWE Championship," the report noted.

It is also mentioned that the current plan for Styles is to be the WWE World Champion until at least Royal Rumble. The WWE already has an offer on the table for Michaels but the 51-year-old is happy enjoying the retirement life. However, Vince McMahon might offer more money to convince him to wrestle one more match.

Styles has mentioned in several interviews that one of his dream matches is against Michaels. He noted that he loves how the WWE Hall of Famer tells a story in the ring. He added that he admires Michaels and he wants to be just like him.

According to The Inquisitr, Michaels vs. Styles is a dream match for many diehard fans but it is unlikely to happen. The 2017 Royal Rumble is being built as the biggest ever and the WWE must have a lot of plans for the event.
