The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to come out in the coming days though the actual date of release may have just been spilled. Apple has started to send out invites for an event at the Apple Campus in Cupertino where the new line-up will be presented by company CEO Tim Cook.

With this development, the long overdue refresh for the MacBook Pro 2016 will be finally happening. It has been over four years since Apple came out with the current generation of MacBook Pros though it may not be the only one coming out in the open, Forbes reported.

Expected to come out as well is the MacBook Air, the cheaper alternative to the more expensive MacBook Pro. However, the word out is that there may be only one MacBook Air coming and this is the 13-inch variant. The actual specs it will carry are yet to be known though they are expected to be a notch lower than the ones tied up to the MacBook Pro 2016.

The 11-inch MacBook Air variant has reportedly been dropped meaning that the lone variant will be the new entry-level option, 9 to 5 Mac reported. With that said, aspiring buyers may be forking out $999 to get the entry-level device.

The case is different for the ones aiming at the MacBook Pro 2016. There will be two variants coming out – a 13-inch and 15-inch variant. They are expected to be thinner and encased in an aluminum shell though the tricky part is the processor that both will come armed with.

Depending on the available stock of Intel Kaby Lake chips, the MacBook Pro 2016 13-inch variant could end up sporting Skylake processors with the more powerful Kaby Lake saved for the likely higher-end 15-inch variants.

Aside from that, the rumored specs include that celebrated OLED touch bar strip, USB-C ports, a Force Touch trackpad, Touch ID and a better battery. Gone are the MagSafe 2 and Thunderbolt 3 ports which mean potential buyers may need to get external connectors in case these ports are still needed. Then again, most of these specs are technically rumors until the MacBook Pro 2016 is officially out in the open.
