Roman Reigns is set to defend his United States championship at the Hell in a Cell event against Rusev in a Hell in a Cell Match. Many people believe that Reigns will retain the title but the latest rumors suggest that it might not be the right call to make.

According to Dean Siemon of Daily DDT, Rusev should come out on top against Reigns and become a three-time United States champion. He pointed out three reasons why it is the right decision despite all the signs pointing to Reigns winning the match.

The first reason is The Big Dog not needing the United States championship at the moment. He pointed out that the WWE needs to develop Reigns' character and they do not need the U.S. title to make it happen.

It should be noted that the WWE has failed to get Reigns over the crowd in the past two years. His suspension in July did not help since and he was demoted to the midcard. It was also rumored that it was done to ease the heat he gets from the crowd.

The next reason is Rusev will benefit more from being the U.S. champ than Reigns. The Bulgarian Brute has repaired his image as a ruthless heel during his second run with the title after getting buried by John Cena and that awful love square angle last year.

The final reason is Rusev cannot afford to lose the feud to Reigns since it would look like he will get buried again. The WWE had successfully re-invigorated his career but losing the feud against Roman throws it all out of the window.

"Rusev is a heel and probably wouldn't be very good as a babyface challenging Owens. The issue would be how long until Rusev would become a goofball like Vladimir Kozlov. Unless Rusev is planned for a big main event push after Hell in a Cell, it's better to keep him with the United States Championship," Siemon pointed out.

According to The Inquisitr, it is likely that Reigns will retain the U.S. title and he will lead Raw's team against SmackDown at the Survivor Series. Also, there is the potential reunion of The Shield which means Reigns needs to be kept good at the eyes of the fans.

Nevertheless, these are just rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt. WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 is on Sunday, October 30 in Boston, Massachusetts. Check out the video below to get hype for Reigns vs. Rusev.
