After the final recall of Galaxy Note 7, Samsung has announced that Note 7 customers in South Korea can upgrade to its two upcoming smartphones, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 on discounted price that will be available in next year.

Customers who have already replaced their Note 7 with Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge can also upgrade their phones to Galaxy S8 or Note 8, but not for free. They will have to pay half of the price of their existing Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge they received by returning Note 7. Currently Note 7 upgrade scheme is announced only for South Korean customers. However, this scheme is not yet announced for global customers, Phone Arena reported.

By this announcement, Samsung has indirectly confirmed that Galaxy Note 8 will be launched in 2017 next year. When Samsung announced the discontinuation of Galaxy Note , rumors started swirling that it will not release a Note series device again. We hope that Galaxy Note 8 will re-gain the faith of customers on its upcoming Galaxy Note series.

Samsung has not yet disclosed the specifications of its upcoming 2017 smartphones, but the rumor mill has leaked some of the specs of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge. However, there is not much information available on Galaxy Note 8.

Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Edge Specifications

The Galaxy S8 may have 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with the resolution of 1440 X 2560 pixels and 576 ppi pixel density. Its display will have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. On the other hand, the Galaxy S8 Edge will be coming with 5.5-inch 4K dual-edge curved display.  

Both the smartphones will be two CPU variants of Snapdragon 830  and Exynos 8895 for different markets. Both will will run on Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS and are expected to sport dual cameras on their rear sides. The S8 and S8 Edge are also pegged to receive iris scanner and fingerprint sensor.

Rumors have revealed that Samsung is working with multiple partners for batteries for its upcoming flagships. LG Chem is also expected to supply batteries for Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge, The Korea Herald reported.
