Athletic Bilbao dropped a 1-2 decision to current league leaders Real Madrid during their most recent game held last Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, as per the Mirror.

Real started the game strongly against Los Leones as forward Karim Benzema broke the match's deadlock in the seventh minute off an assist by teammate Isco.

Bilbao managed to equalize the count in the 27th with a put-back goal from striker Sabin Merino following an attack by teammate Iñigo Lekue.

However, head coach Ernesto Valverde's team conceded the winning goal in the 83rd minute as substitute striker Alvaro Morata pulled off a brilliant rebound play.

It was the second loss in three games for the Athletic Club as they are currently settled at the sixth spot in the overall standings, only three points behind fifth-place team Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted side Osasuna is in the bottom three relegation area of the current league table winning only once in their last six outings.

Head coach Enrique Martin's side is coming off a sorry 1-2 defeat to middling squad Real Betis on Oct. 21, Friday at their home field of El Sadar Stadium, Football España reported.

Béticos midfielder Joaquin netted the first goal early, in the 19th minute of the match, to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break.

Osasuna midfielder Roberto Torres returned the favor three minutes after the restart with a left-footed shot from the center of the box, leveling the count to 1-1.

The game seemed headed to a draw as the clock started to run out, but Los Rojillos caught a bad break in the 86th when forward Emmanuel Riviere was sent off for violent conduct. It allowed Betis to score the winning goal in stoppage time with a free kick by Felipe Gutierrez.
