The chance gets slimmer by the day that Chinese hacking Team Pangu will ever release an iOS 10 jailbreak as Apple proves too fast in sending out updates for its latest mobile operating system. The tech giant has just issued version 10.1.1 of the OS then seeded Beta 10.2 to developers while at the same time stopped signing 10.0.2 and 10.0.3. Is Pangu planning to catch up anytime soon?
While Apple made clear that the over 63MB of update is to specifically fix issues with the Health app, the company also indicated that bugs discovered from version 10.1 are set to be quashed by the new OS jump. And as if to underscore its blazing fast of update pace, the company also allowed a preview of version 10.2 that in all likelihood will leap into the official build as early as next week.
As noted by MacRumors on its report, Apple has pushed out five updates so far for iOS 10 in a stretch of only six weeks that seem to be a new record for the tech giant. But most notably is the speed of patch deployment that appears to suggest Apple is not giving time for jailbreak creators to work on whatever exploits found on iOS 10.
When it comes to jailbreaking, it has always been a race between hackers and Apple, and with the way thing are going it looks like the latter is winning the game.
Recall that even before the actual iOS 10 rollout, Pangu has demonstrated that the OS can be jailbroken when it showed off Cydia running on the unreleased OS. And Luca Todesco proved the same. However, none of the two devs were able to follow through on their works and they seem to have been stalled following Apple's issuance of patches and software update.
So with the latest development of iOS 10 jumping again too soon on a new version (and the same time Apple stopped signing 10.0.2 and 10.0.3), is there really a chance, however slim, that Pangu or any other jailbreak providers will outpace Apple?
The last solid update for a possible iOS 10 jailbreak update was from Cydia creator Saurik, who confirmed that Team Pangu has continued credible work on the iPhone and iPad unlocking tool. And it is the same group that likely will be responsible for an upcoming iOS 10 jailbreak release date, Saurik added.
