Now, several predictions about the iPhone 8 are circulating on the web. One of the most recent is a video rendering of its physical appearance which was shared in a sub-Reddit thread.

Posted on YouTube under the ConceptsiPhone account, the clip features an iPhone 8 and 8 plus with no physical home button. The phone is evidently sleeker with an almost border-to-border screen that occupies its entire face. The design was created by Veniamin Geskin, who imagined the next iPhone would possess OLED screens.

Though the utilization of OLED screen for iPhones has been a rumor at first, Sharp President and CEO Tai Jeng-Wu recently confirmed the next generation of iPhone will be dumping its LCD screens to switch to OLED, Nikkei Asian Review reported.

In a ceremony at Tatung University where Jeng-Wu was awarded an honorary doctorate degree, he said:

"The iPhone has been evolving and now it is switching from LTPS (low-temperature poly-silicon) to OLED panels.  We don't know whether Apple's OLED iPhones will be a hit, but if Apple doesn't walk down this path and transform itself, there will be no innovation. It is a crisis but it is also an opportunity," he added.

The report noted that although the executive did not specify when they will be applying the technology to the iPhone, Jeng-Wu confirmed they are at the process of constructing a new facility in Japan that will produce this type of panel.

As of the moment, Sharp is still supplying LTPS panels for Apple and has a limited capability of producing OLED. It can be recalled that Apple's rival Samsung, started using these panels to their S7 and S7 Edge phones during this year.
