Project Fi subscribers have a new reason to celebrate as the application is giving them a new tool to track data usage and demonstrate per-app breakdown.
From a post in the Fi sub-Reddit by the verified Google community manager account, it is now evident that data tracking will now update live. Users can also check the amount of data used by a particular app from the "View Details" section.
Project Fi is a mobile application that aims to help its users to find out how much data they are losing on what. In this age of data based communication and applications, this new Project Fi tool will certainly assist the smartphone users to keep a tight watch on the data usage with elaborated details in their hands. This usage update is also quite helpful to detect any type of malfunctioning of any app.
As per the report of Android Police, this new feature will work for smart devices that use an operating system like Android 7.0 or higher versions. Although it is not a problem considering Project Fi is largely limited to devices that Google updates. Fi app version of your device needed to be K.2.7.20 or higher and that is over a month old now. This version along with other recent versions is available on APK Mirror. It is suspected that the new data usage tracking tool is possibly a server-side switch.
Fi app comes with a user-friendly interface that offers a vivid illustration of what is going on with the data part. The live updating usage feature is available in the app's main screen and also on the data usage widget.
With this new feature, users will be notified immediately as soon as the highest data cap is reached. Data usage for each application can be monitored in form of a breakdown under "View Details" for the current billing cycle.
According to Phandroid, no rollout time was declared for the estimated update. Some users are already reporting in the thread that this new Fi tool is not available on their devices till now. Smartphone users may have to update the Project Fi app on their device to check if they have got the update or not.
