The return of former WCW and WWE legend Goldberg has divided opinion. When The Big Man returned to the WWE ring a few weeks ago to accept the challenge set out to him by Brock Lesnar' advocate Paul Heyman, fever pitch excitement was ensuing around the WWE universe.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and the initial excitement that there was with the news of Bill Goldberg's return looks to be fading by the minute, something which must be a cause of concern for the creative of WWE.

In last week's episode of Raw after another Heyman and Goldberg trying to build up some hype for the clash at Survivor Series, the Bulgarian Brute Rusev who interrupted the promo between two men, was given a jackhammer by the former WCW and WWE champion and much to the delight of the crowd.

For a feud that much was expected of (Goldberg and Lesnar) , it can be argued that the feud hasn't caught the imagination of the WWE universe just yet. Last week's episode of Raw, however, was a good example of what can happen with clever booking.

Rusev who has just come out of a feud with Roman Reigns, where in my humble opinion he wasn't given justice, fits into the perfect narrative of an over confident "young buck" trying to take on someone who has achieved it all.

WWE teased the same narrative with Seth Rollins when The Architect spoke of a potential match with Bill Goldberg on an American talk show. The reason why, in my humble opinion it's a good move to tease potential spin-off rivalries from the on-going Goldberg and Lesnar feud is because the experience of Bill Goldberg needs to be tapped into.

For the Raw side of the WWE, things, since the brand split arguably, haven't been great but two very talented wrestlers in the case of Rollins and Rusev are arguably in need of some momentum, who better than to use the WCW and WWE legend to help them in a new push to the main event picture.

It appears that the creative team are already thinking ahead and it appears to be that since Goldberg is here, they might as well make use of him in other ways. Rollins worked brilliantly as a heel and so is Rusev, so both men in a feud with Goldberg will smoothly turn into the heels of a feud with The Big Man.

As for the feud between Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg, it seems that Brock Lesnar looks destined to end Goldberg's streak of 1-0. If this does indeed happen, it would make sense as the WWE creative would want to have something similar to Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker.

The WWE made some mistakes again with the Brock Lesnar and Bill Goldberg feud, but they have managed to turn things around by teasing some other feuds that could branch of the main feud of Lesnar and Goldberg. For that point alone, well done WWE and their creative team.
