Xiaomi has officially announced Redmi 4 and its variants such as Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 Prime. Here is a comparison on specifications, features and pricing between the three devices.
Design and Display
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime all sport metal unibody design. The Redmi 4A comes in gold and rose gold color variants. The Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime come in color choices of gold, silver and dark gray.
The Redmi 4 has a 5-inch TFT screen whereas the Redmi 4A has a 5-inch IPS screen enabled with 2.5D curved glass. Both devices support a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The Redmi 4 Prime has a same-sized IPS screen with 2.5D curved glass that supports full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Chipset, RAM and Storage
The Snapdragon 425 SoC with 1.4 GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 308 graphics along with 2 GB RAM drives Xiaomi Redmi 4A. The Redmi 4 is powered by Snapdragon 430 SoC that includes 1.4 GHz octa-processor and Adreno 505 chipset. It also features 2 GB of RAM.
The Redmi 4 Prime is a comparatively powerful device that features Snapdragon 625 SoC that has a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 506 graphics along with 3 GB of RAM.
The Redmi 4 and 4A feature 16 GB of native storage and external storage through hybrid SIM tray. The Redmi 4 Prime has 32 GB of inbuilt storage along with hybrid SIM feature.
Camera, Software and Other Features
The Redmi 4A has a single LED enabled rear camera of 13-megapixel. The Redmi 4 has a dual LED enabled 13-megapixel shooter. The 13-megapixel of Redmi 4 Prime has a dual-tone dual-LED flash. All the three phones feature 5-megapixel selfie snapper.
All the three devices come loaded with MIUI 8 based Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The Redmi 4 and 4 Prime also fingerprint scanner, but Redmi 4A lacks it. The Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 feature 2.0 Full Netcom whereas the Redmi 4 Prime has 3.0 Full Netcom.
All of them support VoLTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, and aGPS. The Redmi 4A and Redmi 4 have v4.1 Bluetooth whereas the Prime model has v4.2 Bluetooth onboard, NDTV reported.
Battery and Price
The Redmi 4A has a 3,120 mAh capacity battery whereas the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime have 4,100 mAh battery. All the three Redmi 4 models support fast charging.
The Redmi 4A is priced at CNY 499 ($74). The Redmi 4 costs CNY 699 ($103) and Redmi 4 Prime is priced at 899 ($133). Mi.com stated
