The South Korean musician CL recently received some negative feedback from critics when she used a Quran verse during a concert performance for the track "MTBD." Meanwhile, the 2NE1 singer's apology message posted on social media gained mixed reactions from fans.

CL caught the ire of many Muslim fans when the 2NE1 girl group member sang an unedited version of "MTBD" during her "Hello B----es" North America concert tour, according to All Kpop. Released in 2014, the said track contained a background music that is similar to a verse from the Muslim bible, the Quran.

At that time, the Korea Muslim Federation sent YG Entertainment a letter to protest the inclusion of the said Quran verse. With the many complaints and the negative feedback, the said agency had the song's controversial Quran verse taken out, as indicated in the same report.

Despite the changes that the entertainment agency made in 2014, CL's current concert tour featured the track's original version. The 2NE1 singer only made the necessary changes during CL's Dallas show held on Nov. 6, Sunday.

Meanwhile, CL took to Twitter on Nov. 7, Monday, to convey her apologies and explain what happened. The singer's engineer apparently forwarded the original version of "MTBD" to the concert tour's team.

Muslim fans can expect to hear a different version of the said track in future performances, according to CL. The South Korean musician had her engineer delete the song's old version "completely and forever."

The 2NE1 girl group leader also apologized for using the track's original version during her concert. She wrote, "I take responsibility for not realizing this sooner."

However, the musician's apology message gained mixed reactions from fans. Several Twitters users conveyed their support while others rejected CL's heartfelt apology.

In other news, CL was identified as one of the 10 South Korean rappers that music lovers should know, according to XXL magazine. Described as a promising artist, the 2NE1 member's rapping style was labeled as pop-rap reminiscent of Nicki Minaj's musical stylings.

CL is expected to wrap up her North American concert tour with a performance in Toronto on Nov 14. Listen to the singer's edited "MTBD" track below:
