Goo got married in Sept. 2014 to his non-celebrity wife. They had their first baby in June 2015.

In "Descendants of the Sun," the 36-year-old actor played Sergeant Major Seo Dae Young, a hardcore soldier with a kind heart who fell in love with the daughter of a general. The drama was a huge success, but did not change him a bit.

Goo's wife watched "Descendants in the Sun" just like any fan and cried a lot on her husband's character's heart-aching romance with Kim Ji Won's character, First Lieutenant Yoon Myeong Ju. She was not jealous at all, but rather very supportive of him.

The Seo Dae Young actor loves his trade and wants to act until he gets old. He knows the job would be more challenging when he gets old, so he tries to take care of his health.

"Descendants of the Sun" was highly successful, especially all over Asia. Goo's co-stars in the show were Song Jong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, as well as Kang Shin Il and Kim Byung Chul among others. The series was so highly rated that KBS aired three special episodes after it ended to highlight the drama's best scenes. There were rumors about a sequel though it is not certain if it will push through.

Joong Ki and Hye Kyo may not appear in the sequel if there should be, according to The Gamer's Drop. Sequel or not, Goo will be occupied as he is part in an upcoming MBC drama.

Goo stars in "Illumination," where he will act alongside singer-actress UEE. The drama tells the story of UEE's character Lee Sae Jin who faces financial difficulties and works on multiple part-time jobs, according to AllKPop.

Recent stills of "Illumination" showed Lee working as a parking director and directing drivers. Meanwhile, Goo plays Park Gun Woo showed in the pictures looking carefree with a guitar. He plays an aspiring musician from a wealthy family. The drama will air after "Woman Who Pulls a Carrier."
