Other features like rewards and membership cards can be easily brought up by using the app installed in to the user's smartphone.

The Stratos card has a printed circuit board equipped with Li-ion battery that can power the card for two years. It is also enclosed in a waterproof body that according to the company has passed the ISO 7810 and 7816 tests, according to Tech Crunch. These tests include, abrasion, static shock and bend tests.

To protect sensitive user information, the Stratos card is equipped with a bank-level encryption. Users can remotely disable the card and it also has a feature that automatically disables itself if it is separated for a certain amount of time from the owner's phone.

The card was designed by Herbst Produkt based in Ann Arbor, MI. According to its CEO Thiago Olso, the company has been working on the product for almost three years.
