"Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa is already suiting up as Aquaman for his upcoming standalone movie. In the midst of production for the "Justice League" movie, the "Aquaman" movie is also entering its pre-production in Australia in November.

It is said that pre-production for the "Aquaman" movie will begin later in November in Australia once crew members finish taking down the set used for Marvel's "Thor: Ragnarok" movie, which was also filmed in the country. Momoa just recently wrapped up filming for "Justice League," in which he stars alongside Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot. This means that the production schedule for the DC Comics superhero film has been moved up as principal photography is expected to take place early this year, Movie Web reported.

The "Aquaman" movie is already being pegged as the most challenging movie to make so far in the DC Extended Universe, since a lot of the action scenes will take place underwater, making filming all the more difficult. However, Momoa is more than ready to take on the role of King of the Atlantis and give justice to his performance.

Aquaman's nemesis in his standalone movie is none other than Black Manta - the superhero's deadliest, most notorious opponent in the comic books, according to The Wrap.  There have been many origin stories for Black Manta, but the most latest is the one where Aquaman killed his father as retaliation for a murder committed by Black Manta when he was young. Black Manta then guns to avenge his father's death by plotting to terminate Aquaman and his reign. Michael K. Williams previously expressed his desire to play the role, but no confirmation as to casting has been announced.

Aside from the explosive underwater action, the "Aquaman" movie will also focus on Aquaman's romance with Mera, to be portrayed by Amber Heard. Their love story starts out with the duo "not quite clicking with each other," as Heard's Mera is not someone you want to "mess with."

Meanwhile, "Aquaman" also stars Willem Dafoe as Vulko and will be directed by James Wan.

The "Aquaman" movie release date has been scheduled for July 27, 2018.
