"Alien: Covenant" might feature two different roles to be played by lead star Michael Fassbender-two androids named David and Walter.

According to the official "Alien: Covenant" website, Michael Fassbender is set to reprise his role as David. However, the Academy nominated actor is also up for another role, Walter, who is described as sort of an upgraded version of David.

"I am allowed to say I am playing two robots -- Walter and David. I think what's great about it is that Ridley has gone back to the DNA of 'Alien,' the horror element of that," Cinema Blend quoted Fassbender as saying. "But it also has the scope and scale of Prometheus. Ridley has it already. He is a machine. He is such an incredible human being and he was in such good form. He is such an imaginative and mischievous figure."

"Alien: Covenant" will tell the story of the crew of the colony ship Covenant that lands on a remote planet where an android named David David (Fassbender) is the sole inhabitant. Walter, on the other hand, is believed to be an android assisting the crew on board the Covenant.

Fassbender's additional role is not the only surprise that comings in "Alien: Covenant." Noomi Rapace is confirmed to return as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw. However, director Ridley Scott said that the character will not have as much screen time as she did in the "Prometheus" movie. With Rapace's involvement, there are speculations that "Alien: Covenant" may be a tribute to the first "Alien" film.

Meanwhile, Fassbender slipped some interesting "Alien: Covenant" spoilers, saying the movie will be scarier than its predecessor, "Prometheus."

In an interview with Collider, Fassbender teased that "Alien: Covenant" is much scarier than "Prometheus" although it's got the same scope and the "imminent sort of disaster feel that Alien had."

"You know once it starts and the ball starts rolling, it's definitely going to bring chills to the cinema," Fassbender added.

"Alien: Covenant" also stars Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Demian Bichir, Callie Hernandez, Alexander England and more.

"Alien: Covenant" will hit theaters on Aug. 4, 2017.
