Leonardo DiCaprio has signed up with the digital streaming service Netflix in order to produce documentaries on the environment. These documentaries would understandably be exclusively available to Netflix subscribers only.

DiCaprio's production company Appian Way would be responsible for developing these documentaries with the recurrent theme of conservation of the environment for exclusive premiere on Netflix.

Netflix and Appian Way have signed a deal, which stretches over numerous years and the production company has been trusted with the task of making factual documentary series pertaining to different facets of the environment, SMN Weekly reported.

As per details on JapanTimes the deal is all set to include original documentaries, docu-series as well as acquistions. Since there have been numerous eco-themed documentaries in the recent years, so it seems like DiCaprio's company - Appian Way has its task cut out for it.

The noted actor revealed that, "There's never been a more critical time for our planet or more of a need for gifted storytellers to help us all make sense of the issues we face." He is all set to be the producer/executive-producer of all the documentaries that are made based on this lucrative agreement.

In the past as well, the "Titanic" actor has been paired with the streaming service, which has earned a lot of accolades for its recent "House of Cards" series. They worked together on another documentary titled - "Virunga", which talked about the sad and pitiable plight of the African mountain gorillas. The documentary earned a lot of critical acclaim and even went on to be nominated for the Best Documentary Feature at the Oscar Awards.
