Southampton is on a downward spiral as of late, winning only once in their last five outings. The team is on a two-game losing skid after holding Manchester City to a draw three rounds ago.

The Saints are coming off a sorry 1-2 defeat in the hands of bottom three squad Hull City on Nov. 6 on the road at the KCOM Stadium, as per ESPN.

Head coach Claude Puel's squad scored the first goal of the match in the sixth minute with a penalty kick by striker Charlie Austin. They were able to keep the lead at the break to take a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

However, two quick goals from the hosts, in the 61st and 63rd minutes by Robert Snodgrass and Michael Dawson, erased the visitors' advantage and snatched the win away from Southampton.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is on a tear right now after winning three straight games. The team is also unbeaten in their last six outings as they moved on top of the league table, overtaking Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

Head coach Jürgen Klopp's side has been on target in the past couple of rounds, pulling off high-scoring wins in the process. Their last game was a 6-1 whitewashing of Watford at the Anfield also on Nov. 6, the Telegraph reported.

Senegalese winger Sadio Mane led the Reds with a brace in the 27th and 60th minutes while four other Liverpool players scored a goal each, namely Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can, Roberto Firmino, and Georginio Wijnaldum in the 30th, 43rd, 57th, and 90th+1 minutes respectively.

It was the second straight multiple-goal win for the Reds as they routed Crystal Palace, 4-2, in the previous round.
