Shania Twain has revealed the dates for her final tour.
Her "Rock This Country" tour will start on June 5 in Seattle. It will be her first North American tour in the span of more than 10 years.
According to ABC News, Twain told Robin Roberts of "Good Morning America" in an interview that this tour is very, very important to her as it is going to be big, not to mention her last. Twain is calling her tour a "celebration."
Twain was able to pull off bringing country to pop music. That still remains some quite of a challenge for contemporary female country artists; this basically provided the template for Taylor Swift's career as well. Swift announced in 2012 that she was going to walk away from country music, a decision which she confirmed when she moved from Nashville to New York. Twain being her inspiration, offered her support in this decision while others are pinging back on Swift for turning away from her country roots.
"I think that everybody should just follow their heart and do their artistic best, and just enjoy their creativity," Twain told ET Canada last year, adding that Swift's a singer-songwriter-performer and that she's young and she needs to do whatever makes her happy.
Twain remains to be the all-time top-selling female country artist despite the fact that she has not released a studio album after "Up!" in 2002.
The 49-year-old artist revealed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2011 the pressure to echo the success of "Come on Over" was too much, which is one of the reasons why she laid low after her "Up!" tour in 2004. She also had problems with her voice. Following these series of events, Twain's husband, Mutt Lange, left her for her best friend. She said she did not think she could sing again. Her successful two-year residency in Las Vegas was a huge personal triumph for her, which is why she refers to her upcoming tour as an "after-party."
Twain plans to follow this celebration with the release of her new album-probably on her 50th birthday on Aug. 28.
She told Roberts, "I really want to go out with a bang."
