2NE1 Park Bom is reportedly making a solo debut after 2NE1 disbanded. However, since YG Entertainment disclosed that Bom's contract with them was not renewed, she might have signed to another entertainment agency.
News of 2NE1 disbanded is all over the internet after YG made the official announcement that reads,
"Our contract with 2NE1 came to an end in May of 2016, and as we faced a situation where Minzy is no longer with us, we ultimately came to a decision of 2NE1's official disbandment after long discussion.
For the past 7 years, 2NE1 was a representative group of YG. We, too, cannot express how upset and disappointed we are. However, we judge that it'll be difficult to continue promoting. We decided that instead of looking forward to 2NE1's unpredictable promotions, we should rather focus on the solo promotions of the members.
We sincerely appreciate everyone who loved 2NE1 and their music."
YG added that they renewed CL and Dara's contracts, but Park Bom's contract was not renewed. Earlier this year, YG said that 2NE1 will make a comeback as a trio after the departure of youngest member Minzy.
There are rumors that YG Entertainment fired Park Bom because it has to keep a low profile due to the various scandals being linked to the agency. This is quite different from its previous announcement that the three members renewed contract with YG and will make a comeback as a trio.
However, Park Bom updated her new Instagram account with a clip of her practicing singing that raised the hopes of Blackjacks and YG fans that Park Bom is back. She may have signed with another agency to further her career like Minzy. Details are scarce, but Bom showed that she definitely missed to be on stage.
