Stoke City snapped a two-game winless skid by pulling off a close 1-0 victory over 10-man team Watford at the Vicarage Road last Sunday, as per Goal.

An own goal by Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes from a Charlie Adam's header in the 29th minute handed the Potters the tough win, which enabled the visitors to bounce back from their two-game impediment.

The team was on a three-game winning tear prior to their winless streak. With the win, head coach Mark Hughes' squad will again try to continue their slow ascent in the standings. They are currently in the 11th spot of the league table, only five points above the bottom three relegation zone.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted side Burnley is on a downward spiral with two consecutive losses after going on a three-game unbeaten run.

Their most recent match ended in a sorry 1-2 loss to powerhouse team Manchester City at their own home ground of Turf Moor last Saturday, the Daily Express reported.

Head coach Sean Dyche's side scored the opening goal of the contest with a volley by English midfielder Dean Marney in the 14th minute off a header by City defender Nicolas Otamendi.

However, the Citizens was able to come back and take the match as Argentine forward Sergio Agüero netted the next two goals to pull off the come-from-behind triumph.

Agüero equalized in the 37th before scoring the game-winner right at the hour mark of the contest to hand the Clarets their second straight defeat.

Burnley is currently settled in the 13th place of the overall standings, just three points above the relegation area.
