Just a day after the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards, Girls' Generation member Taeyeon revealed her side of the story on why her supposed collaborative performance with Wiz Khalifa was cancelled. The two were initially reported to be sharing the stage for a special performance.

On Dec. 03, Saturday, the 27-year-old took to her Instagram Story to finally address the matter. The letter, which was written in Korean, revealed Taeyeon was rather anticipating the performance herself after greeting the American rapper. However, during the broadcast, she learned that the audio file they were supposed to use had a problem.

"That's why we weren't able to properly do a sound check, and ultimately did not perform together," the letter reads, as translated by All Kpop. "I was very disappointed."

To sing in front of an audience live, one need a background audio track. However, instead of a Music Recording, only an All Recorded had been prepared, Taeyeon explained. As someone who had to sing live, the Girls' Generation member revealed she was a little taken back. Nonetheless, the singer and staff members had decided to go with it.

"But just a few hours before the performance, I came upon the unfortunate news," Taeyeon revealed. "The day before the show, I had been waiting for the rehearsal with Wiz Khalifa, but they said that there was a problem with the stage equipment so I had to return to the hotel. Several problems probably occurred all at once."

Taeyeon then ended her letter hoping that no misunderstandings will come out of this between anyone. She also expressed her deep gratitude toward her fans at home and abroad for their unending support and encouragement.

This comes after Khalifa took to Twitter to address the cancelled collaborative performance. During the 2016 MAMA, the rapper performed his biggest single, titled "See You Again" solo.
