MediaTek recently announced two more products that will join their deca-core SoC family. The new ones are the Helio X23 and the Helio X27 which are expected to appear in some Android smartphones in 2017.

The new SoCs join the recently launched MediaTek Helio X20 and the Helio X25 deca-core processors. MediaTek's new Helio X23 and X27 bridge the gaps and can potentially be included in future mid and high-end Android smartphones in the Asian market.

Both of the new Helio X23 and Helio X27 still have the same two-four setup with their processors. The two ARM Cortex-A72 cores are for the heavy lifting while the quad-core Cortex-A53 processors are for the medium to light processing which makes it more power efficient as a whole, AnandTech reported.

The Helio X23 and the X27 also use the same ARM Mali-T880MP4 GPU with the only difference lying in the core clocks. Both the X20 and the X23 run the GPU at 780MHz while the X27 runs it at 875MHz.

All of the SoCs in the MediaTek Helio X2x family have the same memory controller that runs at 933Mhz with a bandwidth of 14.9GB/s. The MediaTek Helio X27 runs the fastest at 2.6GHz for its Cortex-A72 processors, Android Authority reported.

MediaTek's new SoCs are claimed to have a 25 percent reduction in the energy consumption from the display although that may still vary depending on which screen tech is used. AMOLEDs generally run more efficient because blacks do not light up while LCD panels tend to cost more battery juice.

Both the new MediaTek Helio X23 and the Helio X27 also support LTE Category 6 which allows smartphones to reach download speeds of up to 300Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50Mbps depending on the 4G signal available.

MediaTek claims that the new SoCs will be available in Android smartphones soon although no names were given. They could appear in new devices from Asian manufacturers such as Meizu or Xiaomi.
