"Jurassic World 2" has added a new young cast member to its list, and it is none other than "The Get Down" star Justice Smith. The 21-year-old actor will join Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas in the sci-fi sequel.

According to Variety, Smith will be playing a young scientist in the film. Rafe Spall and Toby Jones are also on board the movie. Smith previously appeared in "The Get Down" where he leads a group of teenagers in 1970s Bronx. He also starred in "Paper Towns" alongside Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne.

"Jurassic World" 2 is currently in pre-production and is expected to start filming in England in spring next year. J.A. Bayona is set to direct, with Colin Trevorrow writing the script with Derek Connolly. Trevorrow is also executive producing with Steven Spielberg.

The sequel to the 2015 summer smash hit has been set for a 2018 release date. Although little is known about "Jurassic World 2" for now, there are rumblings that Chris Pratt's pack of highly-trained Velociraptors will take center stage in the next film.

Viewers would recall that Pratt's character, Owen, trained a quartet of four Velociraptors. They followed Owen's command, until later in the film where they chose to follow the Indominus rex in "Jurassic World 2." There's a theory that the weaponization of the Velociraptors would be one of the key plots in the sequel.

"I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment," Trevorrow told Cinema Blend. "And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponize it and later on we found it could be used for energy."

It is also possible that "Jurassic World 2" will introduce another company that reproduces dinosaurs. In the first film, Dr. Wu said "We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur," which means there are probably laboratories other than InGen specializing in dinosaur DNA.
