YouTube vlogger PewDiePie (Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg) created quite a buzz these past few days as the most subscribed YouTuber made a statement that he will be deleting his channel when it reaches a milestone of 50 million subscribers. Apparently, the feat came sooner than expected and to fulfill his end of the bargain, the YouTuber did what millions of his fans are afraid of. Well, not really.
Fans were relieved and got punked at the same time as they watched Kjellberg delete his channel, "Jacksepticeye 2," which is his second YouTube channel, Telegraph reported. After witnessing and realizing that all was just a stunt pulled off by the YouTuber, comments came in like crazy expressing their relief while there were some who got irked by Kjellberg's joke.
It all started when the YouTube star noticed that his videos are not showing up on the suggested video category of the video-sharing site. Moreover, he discovered that he was unsubbed to some of the channels that he was previously subscribed to. Prior to such move by PewDiePie, he even went on a one-week hiatus while he was in Los Angeles filming the sophomore season of his web series titled "Scare PewDiePie."
During his stay, he was also doing his daily vlogs that he monikered as "birdabos." However, he may have noticed the low turnout of viewership of the said vlogs that could have forced him to put a halt to it. In addition, the final birdabo showed a gloomy and stressed PewDiePie informing his fans that he will be taking a week's breather as he was stressed with the production of his web series.
The same concern was also pointed out by other YouTubers like Jacksepticeye and H3H3 Production's Ethan Klein. The latter even posted a vlog highlighting the said algorithm issue and suggested to his fans to click on the notifications bell to make sure that his subscribers will not experience such problems.
Meanwhile, Ars Technica received a statement from YouTube about the algorithm changes and said that such action is done on a regular basis by the website to see to it that viewers get the videos they want to see on their respective accounts.
As of late, PewDiePie is vlogging the game "The Last Guardian" that he said that he has been waiting for the title for quite some time now.
