Fans of Lee Joon-Gi are in for some treat. The "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" actor has recently opened up about his family, upbringing, and life as a Hallyu star.
Earlier this week, Korean culture magazine KWave M released Lee's recent pictorial for its December issue. Displaying a manly aura, the actor sported a black turtleneck sweater paired with a leather rider jacket in the busy streets of Ginza, Tokyo.
In the accompanying interview with the magazine, as cited by The Kpop Herald, Lee talked about his childhood and his relationship with his family, particularly his father. During his rebellious teens, he went to a Taekwondo school with his father for approximately a year, the actor revealed.
"He really helped me find my center when I was going through a shaky time and so I'm really grateful," Lee added. "He's still somebody that I can lean on and open up to, and he's somebody that always accepts me no matter what."
Lee, who successfully held a two-day fan meeting on Dec. 3-4, also expressed affection toward his fans. For him, his fans at home and abroad are his trusted aides, his lifetime partners and his source of strength.
The "Scholar Who Walks the Night" actor then talked about his most recent endeavors. He revealed that he have been concentrating on his English studies these days, stressing "I take classes and I watch a lot of television series and YouTube videos."
Lee, who became a household name after starring in 2005's "The King and the Clown," is all set to make his Hollywood debut in the upcoming sci-fi action film "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter." He will play Umbrella Corporation's Commander Lee, who holds a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
"It's just a special appearance," Lee told Korea's Singles magazine, as cited by Drama Fever. "I think of it as a good experience. I have been acting for more than 10 years now, but there's still a lot I want to show everyone. I haven't met my true character yet. I hope to in the future."
