"Deadpool" managed to become one of the most successful R-Rated films of all time, despite the long road it took for the film to even be made. Despite its success director Tim Miller has departed and will no longer be helming "Deadpool 2." Miller has now stepped forward to debunk rumors surrounding his decision to leave.
Several of these rumors include he wanted to make "Deadpool 2" bigger than the first film and this would involve increasing the budget three times fold. Other popular rumors suggested Miller and actor Ryan Reynolds argued over the potential casting of Kyle Chandler as the time-travelling mutant, Cable.
"I didn't want to make some stylized movie that was 3 times the budget," he stated in an interview with CG Garage. "I wanted to make the same kind of movie that we made before because I think that's the right movie to make for the character. So don't believe what you read on the internet."
He also debunked the rumor about him and Reynolds arguing about Chandler's involvement in the film.
Reynolds did comment about Miller's departure while speaking to GQ in which he stated the experience of making the first movie was very difficult. He still praised Miller, stating no one had worked harder on "Deadpool" than Miller and that he was indeed sad to see Miller depart the sequel.
In response to this Miller explained that while "Deadpool" was hard to make he also considered it a great joy. He pointed out that everyone had fun making the movie and this reflects in the off-beat and fun nature in the film.
Miller then gave good wishes and respect for those working on "Deadpool 2" including Twentieth Century Fox and the new director, David Leitch. Leitch has worked primarily in stunt works but he did co-direct the 2014 hit action film "John Wick."
"Deadpool 2" will see the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and will be written Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who also worked on the first entry. Reynolds did tell GQ that they were not writing "Deadpool 2" to be bigger than it has to be.
"Deadpool 2" is scheduled to release on Jan. 12, 2018.
