"Battlefield 1" fans will soon have a new in-game area to explore with the release of the free "Giant's Shadow" map. With a new weapon, shotgun range changes, new game settings and other improvements, the complimentary DLC is set to enhance a player's gaming experience.

DICE developers have put together an impressive line-up of new items and tweaks for "Battlefield 1." With the free "Giant's Shadow" map, players will be transported to a fierce combat location along the game's Cateau-Wassigny railway. Based on the 1918 Battle of the Selle, gamers can participate in an open world combat reminiscent of the battle scenes during World War 1.

The new "Battlefield 1" map also comes with a new Spectator Mode that allows a gamer to choose camera views to observe an ongoing match, according to patch notes posted on the game's official website. Players can also opt to change the game's setting to enable Standard Issue Rifles (SIR) where a specific weapon will serve as the standard firearm for all classes.

Other gameplay enhancements include the introduction of a Grenade Crossbow, as well as shotgun balance adjustments. With the objective to even out the firepower of certain shotguns, DICE developers reduced the shooting range of specific weapons.

Meanwhile, some of the "Battlefield 1" tweaks included enhancements to a soldier's movements. Considered as part of DICE's game fix for reported bugs, the patch improved a soldier character's response time and even addressed a glitch that sometimes prevented a soldier from moving out of crouched or prone positions.

DICE also deployed several updates for the game's vehicles, gadgets and weaponry. Some of the weapon changes include the M1903 Experimental's improved accuracy and recoil, reduced reloading time for the No. 3 revolver and other enhancements.

In other news, "Battlefield 1" landed on the top five downloaded games on PS4 for the month of November. DICE's game nabbed the second spot on the said list, according to an announcement posted on PlayStation's official website.

The free "Battlefield 1" map named "Giant's Shadow" is already available for download for Season Pass holders, while non-Season Pass holders will enjoy the complimentary map on Dec. 20. Learn more about the said map in the clip below:
