Blizzard Entertainment finally rolled out their Christmas-themed update for their widely popular first-person shooter game "Overwatch." It is said that a deluge of cosmetic items, season-themed maps, and skins are now up for grabs that will go on for a limited run.

Overwatch already made it known through their website the latest add-ons that they've put up to give its players from all over a treat this Holiday season.  Starting things off are the two maps namely "King Row" and "Hanamura" maps that were both festooned fit for the Holidays not to mention the loot boxes that go alongside it. Moreover, these item crates will also be adorned accordingly and will be mainly stuffed with the aforementioned cosmetic trinkets that can be added up to the player's chosen fighter. These item boxes, however, can be either earned during battle or be bought using real cash.

Items that can be obtained from these boxes are in random and may contain game elements such as emotes, highlight intros, victory poses, profile icons, and even Holiday-themed skins. What's good about the new "Overwatch" event is that once an item is unlocked, it will be for keeps even if the event is over and can be used throughout the year.

Another thing to look out for is Mei's so-called "Snowball Offensive." the new game mode will be a team-based battle royale consisting of six players per team. In addition, players will be using Mei's Endothermic Blaster that shoots snowballs instead of its usual rounds. "Mei's Ultimate" is also added to the game mode for some added fun in which Mei's weapon will shoot icy rounds in rapid successions that will definitely make other players run for cover.

The update also brought other add-ons into the game including hero balance tweaks, additional abilities for both Sombra and Symmetra, and even the "Stay as Team" toggle where players will have the option to either team up once again with the group that they played with or otherwise, Engadget reported.

"Overwatch's" "Winter Wonderland" event will run from Dec. 13 until Jan. 2 of next year.
