Everton has only won once in their last six assignments to drop to the eighth spot of the English top flight table, seven points below the Europa League qualifying berth for next season currently occupied by fifth-place team Tottenham Hotspur.

The Toffees have snapped a five-game winless slide by pulling off a 2-1 upset win over third-place squad Arsenal also at their home ground of Goodison Park last Tuesday, via SkySports.

Arsenal drew first blood in the high-profile encounter with a goal by Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez in the 20th minute that went past the defense of Everton defender Ashley Williams and goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

However, head coach Ronald Koeman's side was able to fight back, leveling the match with only a minute left before the halftime break with a goal by defender Seamus Coleman off a right-footed cross by teammate Leighton Baines.

Everton completed the comeback win via a header from Williams with four minutes left before full-time following a corner kick by teammate Ross Barkley.

Meanwhile, Liverpool snapped a two-game winless skid with a 3-0 rout of newly-promoted squad Middlesbrough on the road at the Riverside Stadium last Wednesday, the Mirror reported.

English midfielder Adam Lallana netted a brace in the 29th and 68th minutes to lead head coach Jürgen Klopp's boys in the three-goal shutout win. Divock Origi contributed one right at the hour mark of the match with the assist coming from Lallana.

With the win, Liverpool overtook Arsenal for the second spot of the league table, nine points behind current league leaders Chelsea.
