Intel users can now see whether their current processors can take on the new AMD Ryzen processor using a free program. The company released a source file that can be used in conjunction with Blender.

Blender is a free 3D modelling, animating and rendering program that was used in the public demonstration of the AMD Ryzen processor. Now, users at home can also test their systems and compare whether they need to upgrade in 2017 or not.

Users will need to download the official Blender from the program's website. It is free to use and is light on resources. AMD used the Blender 64-bit 2.78a version for Windows 10 in their Ryzen demonstration, PC World reported. For those looking to test their systems as close as possible to the real thing, they should also run the same version and operating system although the test can be done on another OS as well.

In addition, newer versions could cause conflicting results because of new features and bug fixes included in the updates. There is no harm in downloading the same version even though there is a newer one.

AMd's Ryzen test source file should also be downloaded in their website as well. After downloading the required files, users can choose to exit all unimportant processes and programs so that the test will run as smooth as possible.

Users can also choose to just download the ZIP file for Blender and just run the executable and compare the results with the Ryzen's own figures, Hot Hardware reported. It should be run with the RyzenGraphics_27.blend source file from AMD.

For those who downloaded Blender, they can open the file and press F12 on Windows to run the test. They should take note off the render time. AMD's Ryzen took only 36 seconds to complete while an Intel i7 4790K processor took a whole minute to be done.
