AMC's "The Walking Dead" Season 7 kicked off with the death of two major characters. Now, there is a possibility that one more important character from the crew of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) will be killed off before the end of the season.

Sonequa Martin-Green, 31, who plays the badass Sasha Williams, on the popular zombie series recently bagged the lead role in the television sci-fi series "Star Trek: Discovery," according to Entertainment Weekly. Martin-Green's role in the upcoming television series has been confirmed as a lieutenant commander on board the spaceship named "Discovery."

"Star Trek: Discovery's" debut season will have 13 episodes and is scheduled to premiere on CBS in May 2017. The show's filming is expected to begin in Toronto, Canada early in 2017. Although it has been reported that Martin-Green will continue on as a series regular on the hit AMC series, her new gig has fans worried that she might meet the same fate as Glenn and Abraham.

Sasha Williams first introduced in "The Walking Dead" Season 3 along with her brother Tyreese Williams (Chad Coleman), who died a tragic death two seasons later. Since then, Williams has not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but also made it through the fall of the prison, the cannibals at Terminus and the loss of two of her boyfriends.

Martin-Green's character on "The Walking Dead" was not one that was taken from the comics. However, she does have certain similarities to a character named Holly from the books, according to Comic Book.

As per the comics, Holly wants to exact vengeance on Negan (Jeffrey Dead Morgan) and his Saviors after the death of Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and in the process, ends up dead. Similarly, in last week's mid-season finale, Rick and his crew come together to wage war against Negan and his men, further fueling speculation that Martin-Green might not make it out alive after all.

"The Walking Dead" returns on Feb. 12, 2017. Watch the recap of the mid-season finale below:
