Huawei has officially launched its Honor Magic smartphone in China. One of the device's unique features is its advanced AI that can recognize its owner immediately upon holding the phone and turns on the screen instantly.

The latest device from the Chinese-based company dubbed this feature WiseScreen, which combines a sensor on its frame and an infrared camera at the front. The feature detects the hand and eyes of the person holding the phone, and if it recognizes the owner, the unit is automatically unlocked and the person can continue using it, The Verge reported. If it is not the owner, it will stay locked.

Notifications are also secured by its FaceCode Intelligent Recognition feature. It will not show up if, again, the phone does not recognize the person holding the device

The two futuristic features utilize AI-based software called Magic Live, which is on top of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system. But this is not the only unique characteristic of the latest device. The newly developed software can recommend blockbuster movies when it recognizes that the owner and a friend are talking about films on a chat app. The device can recognize when its owner is driving and will suggest that its user shift the phone into a driving mode. It can even display the rented cab's license plate under a locked screen mode for security purposes, Android Authority has learned.

In terms of specifications, the Huawei Honor Magic offers a 5.09-inch 2K resolution curved AMOLED display topped with double 3D glass covers said to reflect bright light. It is powered by its homegrown Kirin 950 octa-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and paired with 4 GB of system memory. A 64 GB internal storage comes with the device, but it has no capability to expand its storage.

Its main camera is composed of dual 12 MP lenses that come with an f/2.2 aperture, dual-LED, and dual-tone flash, while the front snapper comes with an 8 MP lens with f/2.0 aperture. A 2,900 mAh battery comes on board with a new charging circuit that provides up to 40 percent battery level within 10 minutes charging and 70 percent battery capacity if it is charged for 20 minutes.

The Huawei Honor Magic is has a 3,699 Yuan price tag, which is approximately $533 in China. It remains unknown if the model will be made available in other countries.
