Google Apologizes for 2 hours Global Outage of Google Compute Engine

Google Contacts recently received some major interface and design overhaul as well as additional features in order to offer a more streamlined service to its users.

Google Contacts which was recently released handles some of the search-engine giant's core services like Gmail, Hangouts and Google+. Aside adding some interesting feature, Google also decided it's time to make some major facelift for the service.

Contact's new looks was modeled from Google's other services especially those that has adopted the company's Material Design language. For Google Inbox users the transition did not offer much of a design overhaul, but for Gmail users it presents a completely new user-interface.

Aside from the update in its design and UI, Google also release three new interesting to Contacts.

Google added the "Find Duplicate" tool in order to streamline to merging of user contacts especially those who have more than one or multiple existing active contacts. The new update makes it easy to search the existing contacts and compiling them into one single contact. Once duplicate contacts were found, users can merge them by simply clicking the "merge" button, according to Tech Crunch.

The new update also offers a redesigned Google contact card. Contact's new design shows the most recent emails as well as contacts. Google also added that it will automatically update the users recent contacts based on the users profile information.

Google's decision to merge some of its service is the company's strategy in order to create a more streamlined social network with only one account. Aside from Gmail and Hangouts, Contacts will also be integrated with Photos as well as a new social feel dubbed the "Streams," according to CNN.
