Microsoft updated its OneDrive app for iOS devices that includes new instant preview allowing users to view own Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files within the app.
Users can also access to integrated Office Lens feature in OneDrive app. Whiteboards, documents, and business cards can be digitized by users. Apart from a couple of new features, the developers also improved the app's functionality for a better user experience.
MS Power User reported that the highlights of new version 8.6.1 are - instantly view Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files in the app via new instant preview. Go paperless with the new Scan feature. Magically, scan can digitize whiteboards, documents, and business cards. On iPad, files opened from the offline tab will have the advantage of the entire screen. There's also an improvement in upload reliability for users who use work or school accounts.
Forbes reported that Cortana will be coming to Windows 10 Internet of Things (IoT) Core devices with displays, according to a slide presented at the WinHEC 2016 event in Shenzhen. The slide indicated that Cortana built into a refrigerator, a thermostat and a toaster.
"With upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update, Cortana will be available on Windows 10 IoT Core devices with displays," slide says.
It is expected that Windows 10 Creators Update will arrive in March 2017. In the Windows 10 Creators Update, Microsoft is also bringing "wake on voice from modern standby" and "far-field voice" with Cortana.
This enables hardware companies to build devices that can wake up Cortana with voice queries and further this allows to listen to people from various rooms.
One of the features that several OneDrive users have been requesting for a long time has come into implementation and the camera information can be seen in the details pane.
The update has already been pushed to the App Store and users who wish to take the advantage of the new features have to ensure to update to the latest OneDrive version.
Foley stated that the Cortana on Windows 10 IoT Core will arrive in English for the U.S. and U.K. markets initially. Additionally, there are plans to bring it in additional languages in the near future.
