"Mafia III" gamers can now experience car customization as well as racing in the city streets of New Bordeaux. Game publisher 2K Games has surprised players with the announcement, with the release happening almost at the same time. The greatest surprise is, it does not cost anything.

Players can now have customization options for up to 10 cars that belong to the game's protagonist, Lincoln. Six of these can be earned through playing the game, three are from the Family-Kick-Back pre-order bonus, and the 10th set of wheels is an unlockable one, according to the game's official announcement. In all, there are 50 customizations included in the free update.

The items available for the custom setup come from the newly added car races. There are a total of 12 races that can be found all around New Bordeaux: six are circuit lap races and the other six are point-to-point races. These are also marked down on the map to make them easier to find. Winners will then receive an assortment of decals, exhausts, spoilers, superchargers and wheels. The unlockable car is the Griffin Marauder that will be available for the top winner of the competition.

Game developer Hangar 13 also added three new outfits for Lincoln to try. One of them is called The Classico, which is a three-piece suit that comes with a custom gold-plated revolver. Gamers can get the outfit by simply linking their "Mafia III" account with their My2K account. The other two outifts are called Bad, Bad Mr.Burke and On the Prowl.

The studio also promised that more updates are on the way. The next one is scheduled to arrive early next year, which will "further enhance the performance" of the player's car collection.

A new launch trailer was also released for the latest DLC, which shows some of the nice things that one can add to their cars. Nothing really beats the shinny chrome exhaust on a classic American muscle car.

"Mafia III" is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
