There are even some indications that the upcoming device will have the Snapdragon 835 chipset. This particular chipset is rumoured to be running on a number of yet unreleased devices including the "P" smartphone being developed by Nokia. Asus will be live streaming the upcoming Zennovation event that is happening during CES 2017, and analysts have already started speculating about the devices that could be released.

However, the company has not publicized its plans for the device running the Snapdragon chipset and this has left many people wondering if it could be the Zenfone AR. Importantly, the outlines of two devices were seen in the video teaser which was released for the  Zennovation press event which is due to happen on the second day of CES 2017.

Going by the outline of the devices, it is thought that Asus might be announcing two new smartphones on Jan. 4, GSM Arena reported. These devices could officially be part of the Zenfone 4   family which has been popping up in rumours and if this happens they will be follow up offerings to the ZenFone 3 devices of this year.

Given that there is a lot of mystery surrounding the two devices in the teaser, many analysts have been stating that they could refer to other smartphones. The other theories about the devices indicate that one is the  ZenFone 3 Zoom, reported Phone Arena. The ZenFone 3 Zoom is rumoured to have dual cameras on its rear much like the iPhone 7 Plus which released this year.

Compared to the rumoured flagship with the Snapdragon 835 chipset from Asus, the ZenFone 3 Zoom is expected to run a watered down Snapdragon 625 chipset. Therefore, even if the phone does have a 5.5-inch display and 4 GB RAM it will not be able to match a flagship device in terms of specifications.
