BMW has revealed the pricing for its upcoming 5 Series models, and they are priced higher by $1,000 than last year's base model. However, several goodies are thrown in as standard.

According to Car and Driver, the redesigned 2017 BMW 530i base model, which comes in Alpine White and Jet Black, will have a starting price of $52,195. Paying the extra will also include an anthracite headliner, adaptive LED headlights, moon roof, and driver attention monitor. Its engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged I4 that puts out 258 horsepower and 258 pound-feet torque. It also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission with standard shift paddles and consumes about 5.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. It does 60 mph in 6 seconds flat, or 5.8 seconds with an xDrive setup that starts at $54,495.

Upgrading the upholstery of the 16-way adjustable standard sport seat from the Sensa Tec leatherette, Black Sensa Tec or the Canberra Beige to full leather upholstery will put an additional $1,500 to $2,500 to its base price.

Going now to the BMW 540i, it wil have a $57,445 base price, which is $600 more than last year's BMW 535i. However, its 3.0-liter six-cylinder B58 twin-turbo engine now offers 335 hp (300 hp previously) with 332 pound-feet torque. The listed fuel consumption is at 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers and can reach 60 mph within 5.1 seconds. The new package also includes an infotainment system with an 8.8-inch touchscreen, iDrive 6.0 and a new user interface, but nothing more about its interior is known, Motor Trend reported.

The German car manufacturer confirmed previously that the upcoming 2017 5 Series has shed up to 137 extra baggage by using high-strength steel combined with aluminum and magnesium on its trunklid, roof and doors.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series will make its debut at the Detroit autoshow next month and is expected to reach dealerships by February 2017. The BMW 530i starts at $52,195 while the BMW 540i starts at $57,445.
