Crytek appears to reinforce themselves in the gaming scene despite the current setbacks as they turn their attention to virtual reality in hopes of continuing their journey in the industry. In a recent press release, Crytek revealed their PlayStation 4 exclusive title, ''Robinson: The Journey'' will now be made available to Windows PC with virtual reality support in January 2017.
The Windows PC port of "Robinson: the Journey" will be making its virtual reality debut using the Oculus Rift. The sci-fi virtual reality adventure last launched on Nov. 8 in the PS4 platform with the promise of an "unparalleled sense of presence in a virtual world," as said from a blog post on the official website.
"Robinson: The Journey" is powered up by CryEngine, the signature game engine used and developed by Crytek. Due to a boost in graphic fidelity, the game will be expected as a graphical powerhouse, according to Tech Times. One of the most notable works of Crytek is "Crysis 3," which still qualifies as a sampler in testing latest GPU technology albeit being released back in 2013.
"Robinson: The Journey" revolves around the story of a lone boy named Robin who became stranded on another planet filled with dinosaurs after a failed space expedition. Along with Robin is an AI unit named HIGS and a baby Tyrannosaurus Rex named Laika.
"Rift players will feel truly present in another reality as they search for fellow survivors and unravel the mystery at the heart of Robin's journey," Crytek said in their recent press release. The company promised the game as a world "bursting with detail and lore" and they seem to get it right, but other elements, particularly story progression, says otherwise. Nevertheless, expect motion sickness when playing "Robinson: The Journey" in Oculus Rift.
