Bethesda's "The Elder Scrolls VI" release date is not happening in 2017 and likely not anytime soon, per the game studio's Pete Hines. The Bethesda VP has reiterated his earlier announcement that the next TES installment is not dropping "for years."

Hines sent out a tweet this week that advised one analyst to listen to official press releases from Bethesda when issuing game release forecasts. ""Sorry @michaelpachter but you totally punted this one ... You should listen to me (and Todd) more often," WCCFTech reported Hines as saying.

The tweet was in response to the projection made by Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter that TES VI is ready to come out in 2017. The analyst, however, did not provide solid details to back up his claims.

"The next Elder Scrolls installment comes out, the next Half Life installment does not.  I think Bethesda is close, and think that Valve is not.  However, I'd like to be half wrong on this one," Pachter was reported by AttackOfTheFanboy.com as saying.

But as pointed out by the same report, the chance is slim for The Elder Scrolls VI to touchdown next year with Bethesda's Todd Howard saying in a recent interview that his company will work first on projects outside of the TES franchise.

"We also have two other large projects that we're also doing that are bigger than anything we've done.   People will probably hear about those before Elder Scrolls VI," the Bethesda exec was quoted by AttackOfTheFanboy.com as saying.

Howard also indicated that while Bethesda is indeed working on TES VI, finalizing the game is not yet on the horizon. "It's a very long way off ... It's something that's going to take a lot of time, what we have in mind for that game," Howard said.

And Hines has already made clear that the next TES treat "isn't coming for years," according to WCCFTech. The Bethesda exec clarified too TES details not coming from the company will be mostly speculative as updates on the game will only be issued when the title is all set to rock and roll.

In a reply to the Hines tweet, Pachter said he remains convinced that The Elder Scrolls VI release date is not too far as Bethesda is likely "talking dog years." Whether TES VI is coming out in 2018 or even later, the analyst, according to WCCFTech, has already decided to buy the game.
