According to the poll conducted by The Liberty Times, as cited by Yonhap News, the results were based on the most searched entertainer on the social media and on the internet in Taiwan. After Tzuyu, the second and third spots were taken by the "Descendants of the Sun" stars Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo respectively. Tzuyu's group took the fourth rank in the survey.

With the result, it has proven that Tzuyu's career was not affected at all by the flag scandal that she encountered in 2015. It could be remembered that the youngest member of TWICE waved the Taiwanese national flag during her appearance on MBC's "My Little Television." Tzuyu sparked outrage in mainland China and led to banning of TWICE in the China's media.

Aside from choosing the most popular Korean idol in Taiwan, Liberty Times has picked "Descendants of the Sun" as the most popular Korean drama. It is followed by "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo," "Doctors"; and "Love in the Moonlight."

Raised in Tainan, Tzuyu was discovered when she joined the "Sixteen" competition reality show in Mnet. The singer/ dancer was then offered the opportunity to be a member of a new girl group TWICE that was managed by JYP Entertainment.

TWICE is known for their popular songs "TT," "Cheer Up," "1 to 10" and "I'm Gonna be a Star" among others. In 2016, Tzuyu's group became a household name all across Korea and abroad.

Moreover, Tzu-Yu landed the third spot of the top 20 individual idols, while her group was ranked second of the top 10 artists in another survey by Gallup Korea. She garnered 6.3 percent of the votes from people in their 20s.

Girls' Generation's Taeyeon topped the 20 individual idols with 11.8 percent of votes. The second spot went to IU with 6.6 percent votes.
