"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 may see the return of Callie (Sara Ramirez) in at least one episode.
While speaking with TV Line, executive producer Shonda Rhimes was asked whether or not there are plans for Callie to return to the hit ABC series. Rhimes, who is known for keeping major spoilers to herself, simply said that she loves the character, as well as the actress who portrayed it for the past 10 seasons.
However, it seems that even though Callie may return, this will not happen any time soon. After all, Callie's estranged wife, Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), is already flirting with a new doctor named Eliza (Marika Dominczyk). Rhimes said that Arizona's budding relationship with Eliza cannot be compared with the former's marriage to Callie. After all, they have been together for years and even had a daughter together.
Rhimes hinted on the possibility of Arizona and Eliza's relationship developing in the upcoming episodes. "The fun comes with waiting to see what unfolds," she said.
Meanwhile, Rhimes also opened up about the lead character, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). In the earlier episodes, Meredith and Nathan (Martin Henderson) have been flirting with each other. By the looks of it, the flirting will still continue during the second half of Season 13, but whether or not it will flourish has not been decided yet.
Additionally, Meredith also has a very close relationship with Alex (Justin Chambers). As of late, Rhimes has not decided either on whether or not their relationship will be taken to another level. What is only known is that it is something that will not be explored yet this season.
In other news, Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) may still consider getting back together. After all, the arrival of their daughter, Harriet, has made them very close. Additionally, the two are also co-parenting their child so they have no other choice but to work closely with each other. However, their co-parenting storyline will not be part of the rest of the Season 13.
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 13 will return with a new episode on ABC starting Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. EST.
