The upcoming Nintendo Switch may not possess the processing powers needed to handle the current generation of game ports. The information is revealed by a former Ubisoft rendering lead, and it can certainly hurt the success of the console upon its release.

The rumor comes from the Beyond3D forum, where the former senior rendering lead Sebastian Aaltonen confirmed the Nintendo Switch's processing speed. It confirmed that it is far below than expected considering the requirements of the current generation of games.

Basically, the Nintendo Switch will have 25.6 GB/s is pretty low, as the 68 GB/s of the Xbox One is considerably not great. Of course, the Switch has the capabilities that could compete against other consoles, as long as they were from the last generation. As such, straightforward code port will be impossible without simplifying content.

With this, if developers are going to port their currently released games for the Nintendo Switch, they will need to change the code drastically to match the console's performance. However, it might be more trouble for what it's worth for a lot of developers, simply because they do not have the resources to deal with it.
Regardless, a lot of third-party game developers have already pledged their support for the Nintendo Switch. These include Ubisoft and EA game, with both planning to release games for the platform.

The recent reveals of the Nintendo Switch's specs make it seem underpowered. After all, according to the Nintendo Insider, the prototype design the company submitted to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) said that the battery is built-in, and that the user will not be able to remove the battery.

With this, a lot of questions will be asked at the upcoming Nintendo Switch Presentation event within this month. This is due to the fact that the full specs for the Switch will be revealed and give players an idea how it will affect the potential games and the overall sales it will get once it gets launched in March 2017.
