There are more surprises for fans, who have been waiting for the return of "Supernatural" Season 12 after its long winter hiatus. Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) would be trapped in a memento-type loop that will make him forget his brother Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) and even himself.

In the upcoming episodes of "Supernatural" Season 12, viewers would see the older Winchester struggling to remember his life. The loss of his memory would free him from his long years of doing a complicated job.

"Dean's not physically de-aging," Executive producer Andrew Dabb told TVLine. Rather, he's "trapped in a Memento-type loop, where he's kind of losing his memory a little bit. So, you're going to see a Dean that is a lot more fun and childlike."

Aside from Dean's loss of memory, "Supernatural" Season 12 new episodes will see more of Mary Winchester (Samantha A. "Sam" Smith). There will be more screen time for Smith in the future episodes as the biggest part of her role is yet to come in The CW fantasy horror TV series.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dabb promised that Mary's story is not over yet. He said that Mary would be seen more beginning in episode 9. Mary would be back with a sense of purpose, and she would be a more of a player in the future episodes.

Showrunner Robert Singer added that Smith has a big part to do as the story develops in "Supernatural" Season 12. Viewers would be able to see Mary as a proactive character in The CW series.

Moreover, viewers could expect to see Castiel (Misha Collins) being featured in three upcoming episodes of The CW series. The episode that would be airing on Feb. 2 is about Castiel's history. It would be followed by another two Castiel-heavy episodes.

For fans curious if Bobby (Jim Beaver), the father figure of Sam and Dean, would return in the next episodes of "Supernatural" Season 12, the answer is negative. There are no plans yet for Beaver's character to return anytime this season. However, other familiar faces would be seen, including deaf hunter Eileen Leahy (Shoshannah Stern), teen wannabe hunter Claire Novak (Kathryn Newton) and Sheriff Donna Hanscum (Briana Buckmaster).

"Supernatural" Season 12, episode 10, titled "First Blood" will air on Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. on The CW. Watch the promo trailer of the new episode below:
