Deportivo La Coruna is currently on a two-game undefeated streak and has been unbeaten in three of their last four matches. The team climbed to the 15th place in the overall standings as a result, moving five points above the bottom three relegation zone.

In their most recent fixture on Jan. 6, the Branquiazuis was able to hold middling team Espanyol to a 1-1 draw on the road at the Cornella-El Prat Stadium, as per SkySports.

After a goalless first half of action, Costa Rican midfielder Celso Borges broke the game's deadlock in the 59th minute for head coach Gaizka Garitano's side with a header from the center of the box following a corner kick by teammate Emre Colak.

However, Los Periquitos were able to find the equalizer just four minutes later with a left-footed shot from Spanish forward Gerard to salvage the draw.

Meanwhile, Villarreal was also able to pull off a 1-1 tie with defending champions Barcelona last Sunday at their home ground of El Madrigal Stadium, Sports Mole reported.

El Submarino Amarillo scored the opening goal of the contest also in the second half, with a goal by Italian striker Nicola Sansone in the 49th minute.

It looked like the game was headed to an upset win for head coach Fran Escribá's squad as time slowly ticked away, but Lionel Messi was able to level the count right at the stroke of full-time to force the draw for Barça.

It was the fourth consecutive unbeaten performance for Villarreal as the team settled in the fifth spot of the league table.
