To utilize the beautiful voices of Grant Gustin and Benoist (who were both from "Glee"), executive producer Andrew Kreisberg and his team came up with an idea to feature one music episode this season. However, those who are worried that the episode might be wearing an unappealing could be wrong.

While speaking with TV Line, Kreisberg explained that the unique episodes will not feel like a standalone installment from "The Flash" and "Supergirl." Instead, it will be connected to the previous and upcoming episodes from the hit The CW TV show.

"What I always loved about what Joss Whedon would do with 'Buffy's,' 'Hush' or 'The Body' is he would have these very special episodes, but they were intrinsic to the ongoing storytelling. So when we get to the musical episodes, both Barry and Kara will find themselves at pivotal crossroads on their respective series, and the experience of going through the musical will have a great impact on both series moving forward," he said.

Meanwhile, other than the upcoming musical episode, another exciting storyline for "The Flash" Season 3 has to do with the arrival of Gorilla Grodd's nemesis, Solovar. While at the Television Critics Association winter press tour (via iDigital Times), Kreisberg confirmed that the character will be part of episodes 13 and 14. One of the two episodes will take place in Earth-2's Gorilla City. The other episode will take place on Earth-1.

Solovar will be voiced by Keith David, and David Sobolov will once again lend his voice for the character of Gorilla Grodd.

In other news, "Supergirl" Season 2 will also introduce the character Mr. Mxyzptlk (Peter Gadiot) for a recurring role. According to TV Line, Mr. Mxyzptlk is a trickster from the fifth dimension who is best known for tormenting Kara's cousin, Superman.

"Supergirl" Season 2 will return to The CW on Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. EST. "The Flash" Season 3 will return to the network on Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
